Go Raw, LLC, of Cottonwood Utah is recalling its 2lb. frozen bags of “Quest Beef Cat Food” because they may be contaminated with Salmonella. Salmonella can affect animals eating the products and there is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products.

Healthy people infected with Salmonella should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Rarely, Salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare providers.

Pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian.

The affected products were nationally distributed through retail stores and are identified with the following UPC 6-91730-17101-8, Lot N128.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem. (more…)

Dog Goods is voluntarily expanding this recall to include all 30-packs of “Berkley & Jensen” brand pig ears sold at BJ’s Wholesale Club stores. Dog Goods purchased these pig ears from a single supplier in Brazil from September 2018 through August 2019.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”), together with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”) and State partners, is investigating a link between pig ear pet treats and human cases of salmonellosis. This recall is being expanded after Rhode Island Department of Health testing found Salmonella in “Berkley & Jensen” brand pig ear pet treats.

Dog Goods USA LLC (“Dog Goods”), a distributor of Tobyhanna, PA has been contacted by the FDA and, based on the best information currently available, is conducting a voluntary recall of the following products (the “Products”): non-irradiated bulk and packaged pig ears branded Chef Toby Pig Ears with the lot codes indicated below, which Dog Goods bought from a single supplier in Brazil from September 2018 through August 2019 and distributed nationwide in retail stores.

Dog Goods bought the Products from a single supplier in Brazil from September 2018 through August 2019 and distributed nationwide in retail stores. The FDA sampled pig ears manufactured by our supplier in Brazil and one sample tested positive for Salmonella.

Healthy people infected with Salmonella should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Rarely, Salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. Individuals infected with Salmonella should monitor for some, or all, of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Rarely, Salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare providers.

Bulk pig ears were distributed to Pet Supplies Plus stores in AL, AR, CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, MA, MD, MI, MN, MO, NC, NE, NH, NJ, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, VA, WI and WV. Bulk pig ears were stocked in open bins. Prepackaged branded pig ears are not included in this voluntary recall.

To date, 45 individuals in 13 states have been diagnosed with Salmonella related illness. However, none of these cases are confirmed to be a result of purchasing pig ears from Pet Supplies Plus. (more…)

Hill’s Pet Nutrition would like to clarify that a single can date/lot code within an already recalled case of dog food was inadvertently omitted from our recall list. This relates to the same vitamin premix that led to the Jan. 31 voluntary recall.

The cans were in cases marked with the previously recalled lot code. The vast majority of the product was distributed in October and November 2018 and unlikely to still be commercially available. The Hill’s Consumer Affairs and Veterinary Consultation Services have also not received any calls reporting ill pets for this SKU date code / lot code. (more…)

Out of an abundance of caution, Nestlé Purina PetCare Company is voluntarily recalling a limited amount of Muse wet cat food Natural Chicken Recipe in Gravy in three-ounce cans. The product could contain rubber pieces that are translucent yellow with a blue backing, which may present a potential choking hazard.

We’re pet owners and pet lovers, and our number one commitment is the health and well-being of pets.

We only want products that meet our high-quality standards in your pet’s bowl.

We became aware of the issue after receiving complaints from pet owners who observed the rubber pieces in the product. We have made changes to our process so this should not happen in the future.

While we have not received any reports to date of injury or illness to cats fed this product, we are conducting this voluntary recall as a precaution. We recommend that you discard any of the affected product you may have, and we will replace it. (more…)
